T Groups at HTSC
3 questions you may have about T Groups
What are they?
The “T” stands for Trinity, not just because this is the name of our church, but because the Trinity of God points us to 3 dimensions for our groups.
Dimension 1: UP
towards the Father, in worship, and in prayer; study of the scriptures to get to know Him better.
Dimension 2: IN
friendship to the others in the group, reflecting the relationship within the Trinity, mutual care for each other and hanging out!
Dimension 3: OUT
mission to the people of NW London, just as Jesus moved out “incarnate” into our world.
Every T Group is led by two group pastors.
There is also a champion for each of the 3 dimensions. The aim is to make sure that, like the Trinity, the 3 dimensions – up, in and out— stay in harmony.
We want to build groups which:
· provide space to pray and worship together,
· to grow in understanding what it means to follow Jesus
· to touch those outside the church with His transforming love.
The New Testament churches grew and spread because they put these 3 dimensions into practice (see Acts 2.42-47).
What's involved?
Each group tries to balance the UP-IN-OUT. That means they meet for Bible study and fellowship AND they also have activities they are involved in to serve those outside our church. This booklet says a little bit about what each group is involved in.
The groups have a fluid approach to how and when they meet depending on who is in
the group and what activities they are
involved in. So for example, if a T Group that runs a course some weeks, then the course provides the basis of meetings for those weeks, then at the end of the course the group has a time to rest and re-group. Other groups have a much more regular pattern of meeting twice a month for Bible study and fellowship in someone's home and once a month for a missional activity.
How do I join?
Anyone can join a T Group. You are free to join whichever group you prefer. Take a look at this booklet and see if any of the groups appeal. You may well find none of the 'missions' of the groups suits your passion. Iin which why not just try out a couple of the groups - you will often find that on visiting one of the groups you find it feels right for you. - even if the mission didn't originally seem appealing.
